Internet for Gaming in Finland – What Should You Choose?

A high advertised speed is only one part of choosing internet for gaming. Latency, connection stability, local coverage and your home network also affect the experience. Fiksusti compares listed prices, speeds and 4G/5G networks, but does not measure gaming performance.

Compare current plans →

Fiksusti’s product data does not contain measured ping, latency, jitter or packet-loss values, or a connection-stability test. We therefore do not name a best plan for gaming or infer gaming quality from speed or a 4G/5G label.

How to choose internet for gaming

What makes an internet connection suitable for gaming?

Along with price and advertised speed, consider connection type, coverage where you play and real-world performance. Latency consistency and packet loss can also matter for real-time games. Fiksusti does not measure these by plan.

Speed and latency are different

The Mbit/s figure describes data transfer speed and can matter when downloading games, updates and other files. The response between your device and a game server also depends on latency. A high advertised speed alone does not mean low or stable latency.

What is ping, and why does it matter?

Ping is a practical measure of the delay involved in data travelling to a server and back. Lower and more consistent latency is generally helpful in real-time online games. Fiksusti has no plan-specific ping measurements, so it cannot rank plans by ping.

Jitter and packet loss

Changes in latency, known as jitter, and data packets lost along the way can affect how a connection feels. Fiksusti’s internet-plan data does not measure these, so we do not show values for them.

How much speed do you need for gaming?

There is no single speed figure that suits everyone. Game downloads, updates, simultaneous streaming and other internet use can increase the capacity you need. Card speeds are listed plan speeds, not guarantees of real-world download performance or gaming quality.

4G or 5G for gaming?

5G plans may list higher speeds, but 5G does not guarantee lower ping or greater stability. Location, coverage, network load and your router matter too. A 4G connection that works well at home may perform better than weak 5G coverage. Read our 4G vs 5G home internet guide.

What if several people share the connection?

Gaming, downloads, video calls and streaming at the same time all use the home connection. Consider the number of people and devices and what they do, but there is no universal speed recommendation based only on household size.

Wi-Fi or Ethernet for gaming?

Home Wi-Fi can affect the connection between your device and router. Ethernet can remove some variables from that wireless segment, but it cannot fix a problem in the provider’s network or internet connection.

Router placement and mobile networks

With mobile internet, router placement and the building can affect reception. Follow the device maker’s guidance and check performance where you use it. No specific speed or ping improvement can be promised.

Game downloads and updates can be large

A higher advertised download speed may help transfer large games and updates when the server, device and rest of the connection allow it. Actual download times can differ from calculations based on a plan’s headline speed.

PC, PlayStation and Xbox

The basic connection considerations are similar across gaming devices: check local performance, latency consistency and other devices using the connection. Fiksusti has no device-specific ping or gaming-performance data.

NAT, CGNAT and public IP addresses

NAT or IP setup can matter for some multiplayer, hosting or remote-access use cases. The comparison data does not list NAT, CGNAT, port forwarding or public-IP details for plans. Ask the provider what is available if you need it.

How do I find a suitable plan?

Compare current monthly prices and listed speeds, then choose a connection type that works at your location. Test the connection where possible. If price is your main concern, see our cheapest internet plan comparison comparison.

Internet for gaming: common questions

What type of internet is good for gaming?

Look for a connection that works at your location. Consider listed speed, latency consistency, local coverage, your home network and other users. Fiksusti does not measure gaming latency or stability.

How much internet speed do I need for gaming?

It depends on downloads, updates, streaming and other people using the connection, as well as gaming. There is no universal Mbps threshold.

Is ping important for gaming?

Latency can matter in real-time online games. Fiksusti’s comparison does not include plan-specific ping measurements.

Is 5G good for gaming?

It may work for gaming if the connection is stable where you use it. A 5G label or listed speed does not guarantee a particular ping or experience.

Is 4G good for gaming?

It can work well when coverage and real-world performance meet your needs. Test the connection at your location.

Which is better for gaming, 4G or 5G?

The technology label alone cannot decide. Compare listed speed and price, then confirm real coverage and latency at your address.

Is 100 Mbps enough for gaming?

Listed speed alone does not determine gaming quality. Simultaneous downloads, other users and latency matter; Fiksusti cannot guarantee suitability from a speed figure alone.

Does a high download speed improve ping?

Download speed and latency are different characteristics. A high headline speed does not by itself guarantee low ping.

Is Wi-Fi good for gaming?

It depends on how your home wireless network performs. Ethernet can remove some Wi-Fi-related variables, but not problems in the provider’s network.

Should I use Ethernet?

A cable can make the connection between your device and router more predictable than Wi-Fi. It does not guarantee a problem-free internet connection.

Can other users affect gaming?

Streaming, downloads and video calls at the same time use connection capacity and may affect what is available.

How can I check my ping?

Fiksusti does not measure it. You can test your own connection at the location and device you play on, and consult your game or service provider’s guidance.

Can Fiksusti compare internet plans by ping?

No. The product data has no ping, latency, jitter or packet-loss measurements, and we do not infer them from price, speed or a 4G/5G label.

What is the cheapest internet plan for gaming?

Fiksusti separately shows the lowest listed monthly price in the comparison. That does not mean the plan is best for gaming. See the cheapest internet plan comparison comparison.

What is the best internet plan for gaming?

Fiksusti cannot name a winner because the data does not measure ping, jitter, packet loss or connection stability at your location. Compare listed prices and speeds and check performance where you play.
